I caught the flu from my boss.. He has been going in and out Singapore, and with little rest even when he's back. A usually strong man, he finally fell ill. And despite the fever and all, he would still come into the office for meetings. He even felt like fainting yesterday.
I was already having a sore throat since Tuesday and sneezing since yesterday. And this morning, I started having the flu.....
I was asked by a spy and a runner from the firm to go see the doctor. My receiptionist, even asked me to take 2 days MC. Nah, I can't do that. My boss is already on Medical Leave for today and tomorrow and I'm gonna be on leave on Monday. So, nah... Just today would be fine. But if it gets worse tomorrow, then I'll just hop over across the road to the opposite block to check out the doctor at the 24-hour clinic.. The infamous YSL clinic...
Ok, now, let me tell you a true story.. It's not funny and it happened just this afternoon...
I took the train home from Raffles Place. I know I should be taking the cab since my nose was giving me the run. But, nah.. I wanted to buy lunch home from the Interchange and if I took a cab home, it would be inappropriate.
Anyways, while in the train, a Indian mad woman boarded the train from dunno which station. She was holding a copy of the TODAY paper and wearing a red printed tee shirt and red printed bermudas. She was also bare-footed.
She then said aloud to someone, "Excuse me sir, is it 11.30am yet??" But naturally, no one answered her. Then, she asked a Malay woman sitting at one of the corner door seats (not the 2 seater kind..) if this train goes to City Hall (the train is bounded to Pasir Ris and we're already leaving Bugis station). Hmmm.. Now, i think the Indian woman boarded the train at City Hall itself. But she didn't realise it.
Anyways, back to the, "if this train goes to City Hall". The Malay woman told her nope it's not, it's the other train for the opposite direction. Then the Indian woman started to make some weird noises and at the same time attempting to talk to the Malay woman, in Malay mixed Tamil... Thereafter, Indian woman stood at the door. And before the train reached Kallang Station, she fell and fainted!! She was having FITS!!
Someone rushed to her side and also to press the button to stop the trian. Another lady in Orange tee went to help the Indian woman. Another Malay woman said 1st cabin no. ____ (nope, I'm not stating the number here.. I want to strike 4D and TOTO one.. Cannot give golden numbers out.. Nah Nah.. Nope!!)
The train was about to close its doors, but the driver of the train only did so, after he got the message from one of the ladies, whilst the Orange tee lady tried to pull the Indian woman out of the train. She also raised her voice to someone to help her carry the Indian woman out. Then 2 staff from Kallang Station came on and helped the Indian woman.
I think a pen was placed in between the Indian woman's mouth. There wasn't much panic. But you know lah, most people wouldn't be bothered at all. I truly wanted to help, but I was blowing my nose and I was having a fever at the same time.
The 2 staff carried the Indian woman out to the platform and then one of them came back in to unlock the system so that the train doors would be able to close. I turned to look at the Indian woman lying outside, she was trembling slightly, wondering if there were any identification papers on her, to contact her next of kin..
I do hope the Indian woman is fine now.. Not only is she mentally unsound, bare-footed, but she was sick..
Thank you to the quick thinking women, on board the train this afternoon who helped this Indian woman..... A bow to the 3 of you!!!
